The Double Guitar is a series of works in which Tsabar revisits the electric guitar as instrument and icon within the history of Rock music. Through this group of works Tsabar rethinks the objects soloist, gendered placement and the actions and movements associated with its performative history.
Initiated in 2009 with Doublesilverburst, where Tsabar fused a left handed and a right handed guitar together at the head (headstock) to create a single instrument. The two guitars now share a single set of guitar tuners, when one guitar is tuned the other goes out of tune. In 2010 Tsabar created Untitled (Double Face), in which two guitars joint to form one instrument that has no back. In 2016, Untitled (Double Face) was recreated to have a Chrome coat, continuing the reflection, doubling and mirroring onto the sculpture’s surface. In that same year a group of photographs documenting the performance were produced, to be exhibited both separate and along side the chromed sculpture. In 2017 a video art of the performance was made titled Stranger.
